December Library News

New Discussion Group Forming at the Library...
Are you hoping to receive a new Nook, Kindle, iPad, iPhone, laptop, or digital notebook soon?  Or are you still trying to figure out the device you got last year?  Let’s figure this out together!  A new technology discussion group is forming at the Paxton Carnegie Library, giving people a chance to talk about their tech issues, compare notes, and most important: learn how to download free ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines.  If you are interested in joining an informal tech discussion group, or if you have knowledge about digital devices you’d like to share, please call the library: 217-379-3431 and ask for Anne; or just send us an email at paxtonlibrary1@gmail.com. If there is enough community interest, we will seek out mentors and schedule a meeting date.

The next meeting of the Library Lego Club will be Monday, December 29, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.  This is a free, non-competitive activity on the last Monday of each month, for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. We share all the Legos and Duplos and build whatever we like! Pictures of the finished products are posted on the library Facebook page and on our blog: www.paxtonlibrary.blogspot.com.

Preschool Story Hour is still going strong at the library. Preschool-age children and their parents enjoy Story Hour every Thursday morning at 10 in the children’s library. Hear both classic and new stories for the very young, take part in a simple craft time, and check out your favorite read-to-me books on Thursday. The program room is also the book sale room. Stop by any time and browse for some bargains. Hardback books are a quarter, paperbacks are a dime, and magazines cost a nickel. If you buy some old books, we’ll have room for new ones in the New Year!

Holiday hours for the Paxton Carnegie Library are as follows:  Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Closed the evening of New Year’s Eve and all day New Year’s Day.
