December Lego Club

Join us for Lego Club today, Monday, December 19th, from 3:30 to 4:30pm. We moved the date up because of the Christmas holiday and decided to forge ahead, despite the weather. No machines and mechanisms today, but kids of all ages are invited to do free-style building instead.  No need to leave town for some fun. Stop by the library where it's warm, and meet your friends at Lego Club!

Lego Club Change

Lego Club will meet Monday, October 24th, from 3:30 to 4:30pm, due to Halloween falling on the last Monday. Join us on the 24th to build with your friends at Paxton Carnegie Library!

News! We have such news! The new website is up for Paxton Carnegie Library! Check it out at: www.paxtoncarnegielibrary.org. It's in a rough draft form (hey, we were in a hurry!) but all your favorite links are there: The Online Catalog, Media Mall, 3M Cloud, One Click Digital, and Zinio! We'll be adding and subtracting things as we go along, just generally making a mess of things; but for now, it's up and running. Oh, and we have a new email address too: read@paxtoncarnegielibrary.org. You can still use the old one and view our blog as well. Also, look for us on Facebook. Eventually, we'll get all the photos transferred, but for now, new stuff is so. much. fun!

Here's where all the cool kids are...

It was a big week for Lego Club! We had 19 kids building today, with 9 Building Buddies doing freestyle building and 10 M & M Kids working in teams on machines and mechanisms. We may consider changing the date for October's building session, since the last Monday falls on Halloween. We'll post an update as soon as we know for sure, so watch this space for more info!

Although we had a lively group of kids, 4th grade and up, for Machines and Mechanisms, there was just one child here for free-style building, and she built a very cool, magical something! Join us from 3:30 to 4:30pm, the last Monday of each month, for Lego Club!

The Paxton Carnegie Library Lego Club returns today!  The University of Illinois Extension will be joining us this year with some added activities for older youth.   Jen Odle, Ford County 4-H Program Coordinator, will be bringing in Lego Machine and Mechanism kits for youth in fourth grade and older.  These new Lego kits will get kids engaged in hands on activities with a partner learning about gears, mechanisms, and physics concepts such as force and motion; all while having fun playing with Legos! These kits were purchased with a grant from the Illinois 4-H Foundation.

While the older kids work on machines and mechanisms in the meeting room, those in Kindergarten through third grade can do freestyle building in the children’s library. Preschool children are welcome, with a parent. So mark your calendars for the last Monday of each month. Lego Club begins again today at the library, and continues throughout the school year. Building time is 3:30 to 4:30pm.

Legos at the Library

We got together one more time for Lego Club. There were 11 children and 5 adults building together this time. Lego Club will meet at the library when school starts up again. In the meantime, here are some pics for you to enjoy:
